A Honey Mustard Hue

Bright buttercup yellow was a key colour trend for Spring 2014, but as we move into Autumn/Winter a honey mustard hue is taking over! This skirt from Missguided demonstrates the new colour perfectly mixed with a tartan print which is making a comeback yet again! I've paired this outfit with a hat to continue the Autumn/Winter look and added some simple brogues giving an overall feminine feel. I love this hat because I think it just adds a final touch to the outfit! I used to think of polo necks are being old-fashioned and quite unflattering but they've definitely gone through a style renovation with a slim line polo neck looking quite stylish and sleek.

Another week, another impulse buy! Once again I gave in to a tempting Asos sale item in the form of these black crush velvet leggings. You might have already noticed, velvet has made a revival, fitting in with the baroque trend which has emerged this Autumn/Winter and especially in the lead up to Christmas as we begin to see velvet dresses - perfect for a party outfit!

I decided to go for a more sensible option, opting for some leggings to keep myself cosy - a bargain price of £17.50 helped persuaded me even more. If you're looking for something which is a bit different, I would suggest adding some velvet as the change in texture can make something as simple as a pair of leggings that little bit more interesting. Here I've gone for a kind of 90's/grunge theme with a scrunchie, a baggy crop top and a tartan shirt.

How To Wear: Oversized Knitwear

Is it just me or has the weather suddenly got so much colder? Today I have spent the whole day freezing cold, so when I spotted this oversized knitted jumper in River Island on my way home it didn't take a lot to convince me to buy it. 

I love the pattern on this jumper - it hints at a tartan pattern but it's quite subtle and understated. I paired this with my leather-look leggings and my boots, which are another new purchase. These boots are available from Primark and were only £20 which I think is a bargain. With this style of boots coming into store for Winter, I would definitely recommend grabbing yourself a pair! I also have my eyes on some leather gloves from River Island to further add to my collection in preparation for Winter. 

P.S. apologies for the lack of smiling in my photo's today. Spent the whole day doing uni work so my brain is now fried!

How To Wear: Tartan

Top, Skirt and Rucksack - Asos

Gold Chain - River Island
Leather Jacket - River Island 

As you have probably all noticed Tartan is a key trend this Autumn/Winter. The brightly coloured checks have gained pride of place in my wardrobe as I am in love with anything tartan, plaid or checked - maybe a slight bit of patriotism involved here. 

I first fell in love with this skirt on Asos due to the mix of colours with the different reds, navy and sublte hints of white and yellow. I teamed this with a plain high-neck, long sleeved white top as I didn't want to draw too much attention away from my bold skirt! I also embraced the slight St. Trinian's look I had going on, adding a cute rose cut-out rucksack. The punk/90's grunge trend is another one of my favourites around at the moment - the leather jacket, chain and patent shoes signifying this and bringing the outfit together.
